[ It's the crack of dawn when Azula receives this message and an accompanying picture of a red cherub-dragon. SHe probably didn't want this update so early, but damn it she's getting it anyway. ]
am i not nice to you enough already must i really be forced to sweep you off your feet
[ ah... Keith is on the right track, she knows her charisma lies in inspiring fear and awe, not so much the... other stuff that inspires fond feelings. ]
don't get me wrong, i like you just fine as you are it's just that i'm pretty sure any sweeping me off my feet you could do would probably involve you kicking me in the shin but i'm happy to be proven wrong
[ This was stupid, and yet she was seeking him out anyway just so he could continue to ruffle her feathers. It was early and he was already finding ways to fluster her, something she could go without, thanks. The trek to the hangar is short but she jogs the distance anyway, preferring not to get lost in thought (and awkward panic) during the quiet morning so she could still have her wits about her once she gets to the lion.
Ah... she's doing her best not to look mad, knowing that would instantly lose her the dumb game they were playing. Could she still leave? Azula wasn't prepared to make a fool of herself, why did she let it get this far? ]
[ No, she absolutely cannot leave because Keith is waiting for her outside the hangar with the little dragonling perched on his shoulder. He's busy giving it headskritches, but when he spots her approaching he stands up and waves. ]
Mornin'!
[ It's a very jaunty greeting -- something that he expects might irritate her, but what's a little bit of playing with fire to start the day? ]
[ It does irritate her, but being able to focus on the ugly creature on his shoulder made it easier to keep herself relaxed. There was only a vague reminder of the beast it was supposed to imitate, but considering she'd never have the satisfaction of seeing a real dragon back on her Earth she could appreciate it. A little. Did it really breathe fire? ]
Good morning.
[ Strange words coming out of her, but he asked for this. It's already proven to be difficult, she should just strangle him and accept defeat. Instead, she sets her hand on her hip and does her best attempt at a smile that doesn't look like she's ready to kill something. ]
You look... well-rested. [ Not good enough? ] And nice.
[ Immediately the absurdity of this situation is making him want to laugh. Azula seems as though she's having about as good of a time as you'd expect while getting a root canal done. He really ought to tell her that she can relax because lord knows he'd have hated being put on the spot like this himself, but the curious novelty and a lil dash of schadenfreude makes him hide his grin behind his hand. Not that this does anything to hide the distinctly amused twinkle in his eyes.
The little dragon chirps in greeting, jumping off Keith's shoulder to go sniff at the Fire Nation princess. ]
Nice, huh. Wow. You said you were coming, so I put in some extra effort to make myself presentable and all I get is a nice? Ouch.
[ Note, he did no such thing and looks more or less exactly the same as he usually does, but that's besides the point, isn't it....? ]
[ Regardless of her ability to charm him, her behavior has already seemed to put him in good spirits-- she couldn't remember the last time she had done this. For anyone. Maybe Ty Lee, years ago, when she still remembered what it was like to care about a friend. It gives her pause, letting her have time to make a point to give him a full look over (because they Both knew he did not put in extra effort) and entirely sidestep the creature at her feet. ]
Did I say nice? I meant mesmeric. Really, Keith, if you're not careful you're likely to make one of your little pilot friends come crashing out of the sky because they couldn't take their eyes off you.
[ Okay, that makes him genuinely laugh. Is it charming? Maybe not in a conventional sense, but he has to admit Azula has an intriguing way with words. ]
Well... guess I'd better do something about that. Wouldn't want to be a flight hazard or anything. Got any ideas?
[ The poor ignored dragonling meanwhile chirps unhappily, giving Azula a bit of a contemplative look. How best to help the unfriendly lady....? ]
